中国造船工程学会（以下简称造船学会）成立于1943年，是依法登记的全国船舶与海洋工程科技工作者自愿组成的公益性、学术性法人社会团体，是发展我国船舶与海洋工程科技事业的重要社会力量，是中国最早成立的学术团体之一。
造船学会的宗旨是：团结、组织船舶与海洋工程科技工作者，积极开展学术交流、科学普及、咨询服务、继续教育、编辑出版和国际民间交流活动，促进船舶与海洋工程学科发展，提高船舶与海洋工程产业科技水平，为国民经济和国防建设服务。
China Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (CSNAME) is a public-spirited and academic society voluntarily established by scientists and technicians working in the sectors of shipbuilding and offshore construction. It is also a component part of China Association of Science and Technology. Tracing back to the days before the founding of New China, the Society was really formed by our shipbuilding predecessors in the year of 1943. The purpose of forming CSNAME is to unite and organize people engaged in science and technology in the shipbuilding and offshore construction sectors for serving the construction of our national economy and national defense. More in details is to promote the development of branches of learning, and upgrade the science and technology standards.
