Shanghai China Petroleum Instrument Co.,Ltd is a high-tech enterprise which is specialized in R&D, manufacturing petroleum instruments and oilfield technical service.
Founded in 2000, the company is jointly invested by CNPC and Shanghai Petroleum Instrument Factory (formerly Shanghai No.4 Petroleum Machinery Factory) . The company's predecessor is the well logging branch of Shanghai Petroleum Instrument Factory，which is the earliest well logging instrument manufacturer in China. In 2006, the company launched the WELLSTAR series logging tools with completely independent intellectual property rights. The products are widely used in Daqing, Xinjiang, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Chad, Sudan, Niger, South Sudan, Kuwait, Indonesia and other regions. In 2008, WELLSTEER MWD series were introduced after the company was converted into a private enterprise. The product performance has been verified and recognized in the exploration and development of shale gas in Sichuan Province.
