Otis Instruments is a manufacturer of wired and wireless systems designed to detect toxic, caustic, explosive, or life-sustaining gases in ambient air. Established in 1983, Otis Instruments developed a solid state hydrogen sulfide (H2S) sensor that revolutionized gas detection and improved safety in the Oil and Gas industry during the early 80s.
Today, Otis Instruments offers its solid-state H2S sensor as part of a complete sensor assembly. Other sensor types, including catalytic bead, infrared, photoionization, and electrochemical, can be used for detecting other gases. Customizable for a variety of applications—and sustainable in temperatures ranging from desert heat to ice fields—these products make Otis Instruments the world’s foremost authority in gas detection.
Although hard-wired gas detection systems have proven to be durable and reliable, installation can be costly and time-consuming. In 2005 Otis Instruments pioneered wireless (WireFreeTM) gas detection products, and we continue to manufacture WireFreeTM systems that are cost-efficient, time-tested, and industry-approved.
Otis Instruments WireFreeTM systems hold both ATEX and CSA certifications for explosion-proof applications. Our WireFreeTM technology uses long-range, self-contained, battery-powered sensor assemblies to wirelessly communicate gas-level readings to a receiver. Our receivers feature data-logging, Ethernet output, and the capacity to host multiple radios. To comply with international frequency standards, all WireFreeTM products are available with 900MHz or 2.4GHz radios.
At Otis Instruments, we pride ourselves on quality control, competitive prices, and short lead times. We make customer service a priority, and we maintain quality control with in-house manufacturing, a certified technical support team, field service technicians, technical training certification program for use and maintenance on all of our products, online product training, and system installation by Otis-certified representatives.
Otis Instruments provides a complete system that can include relays, alarms (lights and/or horns), customized enclosures, and customer-specific labels with a client’s own logo.
Our broad product line and distinct features can accommodate nearly any application, in any market. From oil rigs to parking garages, waste water plants to cruise ships – wherever gas detection is required, Otis Instruments has a system to meet the need.
